Abstract
The vast majority of head and neck cancers are epithelial in origin, with primary mucosal squamous cell carcinomas the most common. Thyroid cancer, salivary gland cancer, and the lymphoreticular diseases are less frequent forms of cancer, while malignant neoplasms of mesodermal origin are relatively rare. These lesions are more frequent in children than in adults.
