Abstract

The incidence of cutaneous fungal infections has increased in recent years, but the understanding of basic mycology has not become any clearer. Although cutaneous fungal infections have many clinical forms, one can usually decide if a dermatophyte is present. However naming the fungus is a totally different story. We concentrate on the practical aspects of dermatophyte infections, leaving basic mycology to others.
