Radiographic Features of Thoracic Complications Occurring in Infants in the Intensive Care Nursery

  • Chapter
Iatrogenic Thoracic Complications

Part of the book series: Radiology of Iatrogenic Disorders ((IATROGENIC))

Abstract

The past two decades have witnessed outstanding progress in the rates of survival as well as in the subsequent quality of life of tiny, preterm infants and of neonates with respiratory disorders. These accomplishments can be attributed to the painstaking attention provided by attending physicians, nurses, and respiratory therapists based on an escalating understanding of perinatal physiologic and pathologic processes. Concomitant technologic advances in life-support devices and physiologic monitoring instruments, adapted and designed for use in extremely small infants, have played a significant complementary role.
