Abstract
American anarchist, 1869–1940, who founded and edited the journal Mother Earth. Skeptical about the suffrage movement, active in the campaign for birth control, a feminist and rebel, she was deported with other anarchists to Russia where she became disenchanted with the Soviet experiment.
