Abstract

The paper on Bruns’ theorem was undoubtedly considered by Kovalevskaya a casual work, the sort of thing one communicates in an offhand manner as a point of mild interest. It was in fact a simplified proof of a lemma needed for Bruns’ proof of his theorem.
