Abstract
During the 1960’s and 1970’s there was an increasing interest in crime in the United States. Police reports showed that crime was rising and public opinion polls showed that public awareness of the crime problem was growing. In order to study crime from the perspective of the victim, attention was turned to sample surveys on victimization.
