Abstract

This chapter covers the details of how a program reads input data from external devices and discusses some additional points about how a program writes data. For the most part, its focus is on data coming from a keyboard connected to the computer system and going to an output display device. In addition, it discusses reading and writing files of text which are stored on peripheral devices such as floppy disks.
