Abstract

DNA repair is an important process in all organisms. Intracellular systems of different types appear to have developed very early in evolution since the fundamental biochemical pathways and enzymatic components associated with repair processes, such as photoreactivation and excision repair, are very similar in both prokaryotic, submammalian eukaryotic organisms, and mammals (1).
