Abstract

This last chapter is an attempt to distill the experience of the Gotland study into a set of general observations that apply to all regional ecologic-economic studies. There were many accomplishments associated with the Gotland project. However, there were also a number of frustrations and shortcomings that illustrate the general difficulties encountered in conducting geographically large- scale studies that attempt to synthesize and incorporate both the natural and manmade environments of a region.
