Abstract

Many congenital anomalies can present as emergencies in the period immediately after birth. Prompt recognition and therapy frequently can mean the difference between life and death in these seriously ill neonates. Thus, it is important that physicians involved in childbirth have a thorough knowledge of these defects and their early management.
