Abstract
The reduction of cancer mortality to one-half of current levels by the year 2000 has recently been established as a goal by the National Cancer Institute. At least 200,000 lives could be saved each year if this goal is achieved. Diet and lifestyle changes are expected to play a major role in reducing the occurrence of cancer and preventing cancer mortality.
