Abstract
Three major issues were discussed in the workshop: (1) the role of antigen processing in T-cell activation and situations in which it may not be necessary for T-cell stimulation, (2) the differences in antigen presenting function of macrophages and dendritic cells and the ability of dendritic cells to process antigen, and (3) the role of the type of antigen presenting cell in eliciting preferentially different functional types of T cells such as helpers and suppressors, and the role of presenting cells in tolerance.
