Abstract
The mathematical model SEDMOD has been developed within the framework of eutrophication research to describe the early diagenesis of nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) in recent lake sediments, and to calculate nutrient fluxes across the sediment-water interface. The one-dimensional model is based on the steady-state solution of differential equations for ammonium, phosphate, oxygen, nitrate, sulfate, and organic matter.
