Optimum Signal Set for a Poisson Type Optical Channel

Abstract

A simple model of an optical communication channel is the following. The channel input is a waveform x(t) which satisfies
$$ 0 \le a \le x (t) \le b < \infty, \; \; 0\le t < \infty, $$
and the corresponding channel output is a Poisson jump process or counting process v(t) with intensity function x(t).
