Abstract
TODAY is a totally computerised national daily newspaper, the first in Britain, and one of only a few in the world. While other national newspapers in this country move over to computer typesetting and direct input on screen by journalists, most are still relying on cut-and-paste for page make-up, outputting stories, headlines and pictures to bromide and pasting them up onto a full page, TODAY has full on-screen make-up, mostly done by the journalists themselves, and a small team of page layout terminal operators.
