Abstract

In this chapter, I first survey the concerns of software engineering. Next, since the development of methodology has been one of the major concerns of software engineering, I discuss the role of a design methodology and show how the method of metaprogramming, presented in Chapter 3, compares with some other methods. Finally, since software economics is one of the major driving forces behind the method of metaprogramming, I discuss it briefly. However, the main discussion of software economics is presented in Chapters 7–9.
