Abstract
The drift velocities and the longitudinal diffusion coefficients of electrons were measured in nitrogen-helium, nitrogen-neon, and nitrogen-argon mixtures over the range of E/N from 0.7 to 70 Td by using a pulse-operated doub1e shutter drift tube. The objectives of these measurements were (1) to discuss the effects of the molecular additives on electron swarm parameters in rare gases, and (2) to investigate the new possibilities of the electron swarm study in gas mixtures.
