Abstract

The objective of this concluding chapter is to compare the individual case studies and to look for principles that can be used to guide development and management of the Amazonian forest landscapes. Comparisons are made on the basis of productivity, economic factors, and achievement of social and political goals. Principles of energy analysis and the applicability to the case studies also are reviewed.
