Abstract

D-Penicillamine is effective in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. Moreover, D-penicillamine can modify the disease process as evidenced by the capacity to decrease acute phase reactants1. Despite this well-documented evidence of clinical efficacy, the mechanism by which D-penicillamine achieves this therapeutic result in rheumatoid arthritis remains unknown.
