Abstract

The Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) DR promoter controls the expression of early mRNAs consisting of 102 bp repeats from the IR4 region (Figure 1A and 1E) (1). The duplicated left (DL) promoter is almost a perfect copy of the DR promoter region (Figure 1F) (1) and directs the expression of early mRNAs containing short tandem repeats, the IR2 repeats which are partially homologous to the IR4 repeats (4, 5, 6).
