Hepatic Encephalopathy

Part of the book series: Experimental Biology and Medicine ((EBAM,volume 22))

Abstract

The connection between hepatic encephalopathy (HE), diet and nitrogen metabolism is undisputed but its exact nature remains contentious (1). Excess of protein intake has been associated to deterioration or appearance of HE and in the opposite protein restriction is an established measure for the treatment of patients with HE.
