Abstract
Neuropathy involving the genitofemoral nerve occurs infrequently, but must be distinguished from entrapment of the ilioinguinal nerve. The nerve eventually divides into the external spermatic (genital) and the lumbo-inguinal (femoral) nerves. The genital branch passes through the internal inguinal ring where it is subject to entrapment. The syndrome is characterized by chronic pain and paresthesia in the distribution of the nerve.
