Opening the Pathway to Kuru Research

Laughing Death

Abstract

Yuletide is always a time for great festivity and what is known as sing-sing among New Guineans. The celebration continues nonstop for days, undeterred by cloudbursts of rain or darkness of night. This year’s annual sing-sing attracted thousands of natives of both sexes; hundreds of maidens and warriors gorgeously plumed and bedecked in dazzling colors assembled to dance and celebrate, in keeping with a centuries-old tradition.
