Abstract

There is a great simplification in the problem of constitutive modeling when the deformations are a small perturbation of states of rest. These deformations depend on a Newtonian viscosity μ and a smooth relaxation function G(s), where G(s)>0, G′(s)<0, and G″(s)>0, for 0 ≤ s=t−τ < ∞, and τ is the past time.
