Abstract
In Chapter 17, you had an opportunity to consider what temperature to expect on a given planet and the calculated values were compared to the observed values. It was noted that the atmospheric composition depended on the temperature in an important way and that the gravity would also help to determine the chemical makeup of the atmosphere over eons of time. In this chapter, those relationships are discussed; in the next chapter, the effects of our own planet’s atmosphere on starlight is explored.
