Abstract
The programs we have seen so far consist of declarations and statements. The declarations introduce new types, constants, variables, functions, and procedures. The statements that are not part of functions or procedures constitute the main program. This simple structure is adequate for small programs, but as our programs get larger, we need more effective ways of organizing them. Just as books are divided into chapters and sections, so programs should be divided into separate components.
