Patellar Considerations in Total Knee Replacement

  • Chapter
The Patella

Abstract

Successful resurfacing of the patellofemoral articulation in total knee replacement is a crucial aspect of successful arthroplasty. Although it was the last of the knee compartments to be addressed by arthroplasty, its role in the overall function of knee replacement cannot be overemphasized. Proper attention to detail in the management of the patellofemoral joint in total knee arthroplasty can avoid a myriad of potential complications.
