The Ionotropic Glutamate Receptors

Part of the book series: The Receptors ((REC))

Abstract

It has been only 6 years since the expression cloning of the first glutamate receptor (GluR) cDNA (Hollmann et al, 1989), but in this short period of time, a true explosion took place of our knowledge of the molecular makeup of the central nervous system’s most abundant and most important excitatory amino acid receptor system.
