Abstract

In recent years, CCDs have established themselves as the backbone detector for many types of astronomical observation. Their advantages of high Responsive Quantum Efficiency (RQE), linearity, low noise and broad spectral coverage will ensure that this situation is likely to continue into the foreseeable future.
