Abstract
Being competitive is easy. Just introduce a product with the best performance, the highest quality and reliability and the lowest cost! There’s nothing new here. What’s new, in the competitive world economy today, is how to do these things. The new answer, and the theme of my remarks today, is a shift from technology-centered innovation on the one hand or cost-centered innovation on the other to design-centered innovation.
