Clinical Staging of Gastric Cancer by Ultrasound, Computerized Tomography, and Magnetic Resonance Tomography

Gastric Carcinoma

Abstract

The stage of a malignant disease is determined by the primary tumor as well as by the presence or absence of lymph nodes or organ metastases. The diagnostic procedures usually employed in the primary diagnosis of malignant gastric disease—endoscopy and X-ray double-contrast examinations—only determine the endoluminary spread and hence only part of the primary tumor.
