Abstract
One of the problems facing primary care physicians who deliver comprehensive care to low-income, predominantly minority, persons, in the metropolitan area of Houston is the primary and secondary prevention of cancer. This is a major problem because physicians usually give higher priority to the management of acute emergencies or chronic problems than to the systematic screening for hidden illnesses, the assessment of risk factors, and the education of patients, their families and the community-at-large.
