Abstract
Articulating a philosophical and conceptual underpinning for environmental management is a challenging task. Certainly, it needs to be done so that the core of the new professional territory is clearly defined. This task has been undertaken in previous papers (Dorney 1977a,b) and is derived as well from dialogue generated by workshops that drafted the Constitution for the Ontario Society for Environmental Management (OSEM) (1976). Experiences from these two efforts are combined here.
