Antigen Society #7 Report (B8, w59, B14, w64, w65)
HLA B8 and HLA B14 have been well established specificities since 1965 (1) and 1970 (2), respectively. Bw59, restricted to the Oriental population, was defined in 1980 (3), and the B14 subtypes Bw64 and Bw65 were accepted as specificities in 1984 (4). Associations were observed between Bw64, Aw32, and DR7 on one hand, and between Bw65, Aw33, and DR1 on the other (5–7). Specific complotypes were found to be in strong linkage disequilibrium with Bw64 or Bw65, respectively (8,9).
