Abstract

The DR beta/BamHI system identified the 17 fragments listed in Table 1. Four of these (St. fragment nos. 2, 6, 13, and 16) were not included in the analysis (no locus assignment) as they were very faint and seen only on a few films. Possible reasons for these fragments could be either a very weak cross-hybridization to another (new?) locus or a partial digestion of some DNA preparations. Of the remaining 13 fragments, only 9 hybridized most strongly with the DRβ probe (Table 2). Three of the remaining fragments (nos. 3,4, and 17) hybridized more strongly with the DQβ probe and one (no. 5) with the DPβ probe. All the DR-specific bands were polymorphic. The DR associations of these bands are described in the joint report.
