Overview

A clear sense of direction is critical for everyone. Without a guide to get where we want to go, it is easy to be diverted or become lost on the way. One might say that one risk of not knowing where you are going is ending up in the wrong place. We hope to prevent that from happening to our readers by devoting this chapter to summarizing the philosophy, trends, and attitudes that reflect our current habilitation approach to adults with disabilities. Through this process, we hope you develop a mindset that will be current, optimistic, and influential in developing your attitudes and approaches to the habilitation needs of those persons introduced in Chapter 2.
