Abstract
The following guidelines for personal habits and practices in the laboratory are primarily directed toward the prevention of occupation- ally produced physical injury or disease. However, observing these practices can also improve the quality of laboratory work by reducing the possibilities for contamination of experimental materials. The reasons for many of these recommended precautions and practices are obvious, but going into some detail will make it possible to determine whether the practice is applicable to each laboratory situation.
