Abstract

Doppler satellite observations at fourteen stations in the Nigerian geodetic network have been utilized in the geoid estimation. By comparing the geodetic heights of these points on both geocentric (WGS 72) and Minna (Nigerian) datums, and their orthometric heights, geoidal undulations with respect to the two datums were computed. Contour maps of geoidal undulations predicted at regular grid intervals, using finite element estimation technique show that the geoid tilts more on Minna datum than on the geocentric datum. However, due to data problems, optimum geoid solution has not been achieved.
