Abstract
Vegetable production in the tropics is usually small-scale but laborintensive. Many of the physiological processes and management regimes involved in vegetable production can be effected by gibberellins (GAs) in order to reduce production costs and to increase yield and its quality. The potential uses for GAs in vegetable production are summarized in Table 1. The principal purposes of employing GAs are to optimize vegetable production by modifying growth and development, to overcome abiotic stresses, and to enhance the quantitative and qualitative yield of vegetables.
