Abstract
Fruit and seed development are closely related. In many species, fruit tissue weight increases with an increase in the number of well-developed seeds, and in some cases seeds can be removed or killed and replaced by hormones to restore normal fruit development (e.g., in Pisum sativum 1 and Rosa arvensis 2).
