Abstract
The Rayleigh — Taylor instability is the most probable mechanism to mix the ejecta of SN 1987A as suggested from observations. Although the gravity is negligible in the explosion, acceleration of the matter acts as an effective gravity and can be responsible for the Rayleigh — Taylor instability.
