Supernova 1987A: Astron Observations of UV Absorption Spectra and Their Interpretation

Abstract

The Astron UV observations of SN 1987A have been performed from 4 March 1987 to 23 March 1988, i.e. they cover the period from 9 to 394 days after the explosion. Fifteen spectra with 28 Å resolution were obtained in different dates (ref [l,2]). All observational data are shown in Fig.1. The spectra are shifted along the wavelength axis according to radial velocity curve (Fig.2). Moreover each spectrum is shifted relatively preceding one by 0.2 dex along the vertical axis in order to avoid a confusion.
