Abstracts
This chapter is concerned with understanding the mechanisms underlying the control of temporal and spatial properties of the eyes’ scanning pattern in visual monitoring tasks. Basically, three types of models have been distinguished that differ with respect to the assumed relationship between the ongoing processing and the temporal and spatial decisions of the control system (cf. McConkie, 1983; Rayner, 1984).
