Abstract
As computers have become a pervasive element of modern culture, no group has become more curious and mysterious than professional programmers, people that have the patience to teach the machine laboriously, in astoundingly fine detail, to perform all the feats that it is capable of accomplishing. In that sense, then, the job of a programmer is similar to that of a teacher, though perhaps with a less unruly audience.
