Abstract
The combined weight of the normal adult lungs is about 700 to 800 g. The lungs are divided into lobes by fissures lined by visceral pleura. The right lung has three lobes: upper, middle, and lower; the left lung has only two. The lungs are covered by the visceral pleura. The parietal pleura covers the internal surface of the chest wall and the upper surface of the diaphragm, and constitutes the lateral border of the mediastinum.
