The New Approach to Memory Improvement: Problems and Prospects

  • Chapter
Memory Improvement

Abstract

It is of course an honor to be asked to make an introduction to a conference in the area of one’s particular interest; all the more so when the conference is on a topic that, until recently, I for one despaired of being taken seriously by academic psychologists. I think it fair to say that this conference is further evidence, if any were needed, that such despair was misplaced, and that, notwithstanding the attack on practical applications by such as Banaji and Crowder (1989), the application of memory studies to real-life problems is moving toward center stage.
