Anthocyanin Genetics

  • Chapter
The Maize Handbook

Part of the book series: Springer Lab Manuals ((SLM))

Abstract

Genetic control of anthocyanin biosynthesis has been the subject of more intensive research than has any other gene system, with the consequence that so much information is available that it may appear too complex to learn easily, despite underlying simplicity. Some tips and clues relevant to genotype and phenotype follow. For some additional details, including pigment distribution, tissue by tissue and genotype by genotype, see Coe (1985) and Coe et al. (1988).
