Environmental Behavior of Bentazon Herbicide

  • Chapter

Part of the book series: Reviews of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology ((RECT,volume 137))

Abstract

Investigations into the degradation of bentazon in plant and soil were presented at the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC), Advances in Pesticide Science, Zürich 1978 (Otto, Beutel, Drescher, and Huber 1979). The purpose of this review is to summarize and update research information on the environmental fate of bentazon. It is based on both published literature and citations from proprietary, industrial research reports covering plant and soil metabolism, soil degradation half-lives, photolysis, leaching behavior, and effects in the inhabited environment, including toxicological properties.
