Abstract

THE SMOOTH CONTOURS OF THE CHIN ON EACH IDEALIZED FACE represent one of the goals in plastic surgery; that is, we want not just to restore beauty but to create it. Facial balance is a major goal. In western society the chin is a symbol of masculinity for men. In women, the chin accents the sensuous lip. A full chin line is rarely accompanied by submental muscle descent, which spoils our quest for a youthful “clean” jawline.
