TECHNICAL DETAILS AND INDIVIDUAL APPROACHES TO THE PRE-vention or correction of problems occupy much time in the world of plastic surgery. This text addresses those issues and reviews my personal experience in evaluating new techniques. With the help of contributions from some of the best minds in plastic surgery, I emphasize herein what we used to do and how we have changed those outmoded techniques and philosophies, and I detail the problem-solving methods that have contributed to the evolution of our specialty. The emphasis here is on technical expertise. Therefore there is not an overabundance of pre- and postoperative photographs. The presentations are limited to aesthetic surgical problems that are “hot topics.”
